Oil cleansing based upon the principal of like-dissolves-like, the oil used to cleanse the skin dissolves the excess oil and build ups on the skin.
Many of the environmental impurities and cosmetic products are not water soluble and so washing the skin with simple water would not be sufficient to remove them.
for normal to dry skin use Olive oil, Sunflower oil, sweet Almond oil, Jojoba oil.
If you have oily skin it is recommended to add astringent oil to the blend.
Astringent oils can be a bit drying to the skin.
They are good for combination and oily skin.
They will often shrink the appearance of pores by temporarily constricting the epidermis.
Astringent oils options:
BASE OILS: Argan oil, Castor oil, Grapeseed oil and Hazelnut oil.
ESSENTIAL OILS: Carrot Seed, Cyprus, Ginger, Myrtle, Patchouli, Rose, Rosemary and Citrus oils.
DIY RECIPE Cleansing Oil
- Tea tree oil helps to soothe and relieve painful and irritated skin, reduce redness and swelling.
- Lavender reduces acne and slows ageing.
- Sunflower oil and Olive oil are nursing and gentle for healthy skin.
OIL CLEANSING METHOD DIY
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp sunflower oil
- 2 drops tea tree essential oil
- 2 drops lavender essential oil
Mix all the ingredients together in an oil blending bottle or a bowl.
Applying the cleansing oil blend by gently massage into your face for a minute, especially focusing on those areas with clogged pores.
Wet a washcloth with hot water, gently wipe your skin.
Leave the cloth to cover your face for few seconds, trap the moisture and heat, let the essential oils to be absorbed.
This cleansing method is recommended as a deep cleansing for 2-3 times a week.
